Virginia Destinations
Yes, Virginia Is For Lovers
Virginia is for lovers of history, culture, lakes, mountains, beaches, historic homes, gardens and museums. Romance is not new to those of us who live here but we have found a special excitement within the diversity of the state and it's a place we proudly call "home". Many well known figures have also called Virginia home including many Presidents; among them Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Tyler and Woodrow Wilson.
Pocahontas and John Rolfe were the first well-known "lovers" in the New World and lived at our first permanent English speaking settlement at Jamestowne Island. This is the location where 3 great cultures merged their traditions into free enterprise and our democracy, cultures, and diversity took root. Two wars that were fought on American soil ended here, the American Revolution in
1781 and the Civil War in 1865 at Appomattox Court House. In fact, more Civil War battles were fought here in Virginia than any other state.
Our heritage is well preserved throughout the state along with many scenic views, historic homes, plantations, gardens, wineries, and museums. The original Mercury Astronauts trained here and Virginia is also home to the Atlantic Fleet.
Walk in the footsteps of our early forefathers, dine at a Colonial Tavern, have one of our historic notables join you for dessert, view a court case where a "witch" is on trial, and experience Colonial Williamsburg. Hear stories of the past and learn about us today for we are a state for "all seasons and all reasons." Allow us to customize your experience in Virginia, whether it be for a meeting or special customized tour program which will create a special memory that will go down in history.
